One person lets us take an example of minister, would get more expensive gifts from all his allies and businessman as they believe that whosover gives the most expensive and likeable gift would win the heart of the minister and he could be used to many future business endeavours. But if a poor guy who has not eaten anything asks same set of people for food they would avoid even looking at him let alone sparing change for him.

Thus, people show their best face in the society as the moment you are seen below the 'acceptable level' people tend to phase away or even change the way they interact with you. Thus, this is directly propotionate and is seen in direct effect which people shell out money while for weddingeven if the money is borrowed as the face they show will directly affect the way people behave then and after wth them.

The point stands, do we really need those people who would first be after you and would leave your back if they find a person richer than you, well this all stands and is always thought about and never acted upon, as we still continue to do our best to show our best face in the society we eternally hate.
